Getting CPR/AED Certified ~ Not All Classes Are Equal

So you need (or want) to get CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certified.  How do you find a class? Internet search? Ask a friend?   Many people start their IMAG1284search on the internet.  They find great ads offering “Get your CPR certification for $19.95”.  Unfortunately many people have been “duped” into taking an online class, which turned out not to be a valid certification.  Why is the certification not valid?  Because they did not meet with a certified instructor to perform the hands on skills practice and testing.

As a training company, we provide certification through American Heart Association (AHA), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) and Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI).  Their guidelines are based upon the 2010 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) and other evidence-based treatment recommendations. In addition, the Basic First Aid section of the course is consistent with recommendations of the 2010 National First Aid Science Advisory Board and OSHA’s best practices for first aid training programs.

IMAG1306We can provide a class by several different methods:  A traditional classroom method, or by a blended learning class.  What is blended learning?  You can take the classroom educational part of the class online.  Once you are completed the online part of the class, then on a specifically scheduled date and time, you will meet with a certified instructor and take the hands-on practice and evaluation of hands-on skills testing.  Only after passing the appropriate written test, and skills testing will you then receive your certification.

We have been providing blended learning classes for some time now, and our clients have really enjoyed them!  You can take the online classroom part at your own pace, and you can go back and review the information again if necessary.  Blended learning classes also cuts down on the amount of time you are in the classroom.  On average, the hands-on practice and evaluation skills testing can take approximately 2 hours.
