Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, is a premier physical therapy facility in the Northern Virginia area. They have been in business for eight years, and have offices located in Leesburg, Fairfax, and Fairfax Station.
The mission of Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy is “…seek to provide only the highest quality direct, personal care to our patients through our commitment to service and excellence, both personally and professionally. We pride ourselves in the continual pursuit of knowledge, which allow us to provide our patients with the most up to date treatments.”
Meet one of the owners, Robyn O’Connor and her staff of Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy.
Tell us a little about Integrated Sports Medicine:
“Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy is a privately owned outpatient clinic with a special emphasis on sport-specific rehabilitation. We have been in business since 2007 at the Lansdowne location but also have locations in Fairfax and Fairfax Station. We offer comprehensive care helping injured individuals restore themselves to their pre-injury level of function, from amateur to professional athletes and we have a special place in our hearts for the weekend warriors. The staff works as a team, with at least 4 years of experience for all therapists. We make it a fun environment where patients have lots of contact with staff and other patients if desired. All patients receive an individualized treatment plan, emphasizing the source of the dysfunction and not just treating symptoms.”
Is there a “most common” issue you treat or see a lot?
“Considering that we work mainly with the active population, knee, and shoulder pain are probably two of the most common, with neck and back pain following close behind. We treat a significant number of ACL reconstruction surgeries and rotator cuff repairs as well as the non-surgical population. My staff prides themselves as treating the individual as a whole with emphasis on core stabilization and balance as well as current injury. We offer a variety of manual techniques as well that all patients, no matter the diagnosis, will be treated with.”
Brag time. What sets you apart from your competitors?
“We provide hands on care to each patient, every visit. All of our patients have an individualized plan and we offer many techniques such as Trigger Point Dry Needling, Graston technique, Active Release Technique and Pilates. Our biggest factor that sets us apart is the specificity per patient that we provide based upon the patient’s goals.”
What do you and your staff, like to do when you are not helping clients? What do you all do for fun?
“I love soccer, horses, snowboarding, and live music. I was a former soccer player at Hofstra University and started showing horses at the age of five. I have been snowboarding for 15 years and try to get out west annually to ride the powder. During the summer, you can find me at the local concert venues enjoying music as often as I can, especially country music! The staff is involved in numerous activities such as running, hiking, and cycling as well as Pilates and Kettle Bell training. We also like to frequent the local vineyards when time permits.”
How do you know Douglas & Stacy Skinner and SCS Safety Health & Security Associates?
“When we first opened both Doug and Stacy were patients of our practice. Matter of fact, we have treated their entire family including their daughter Kiley. We chose SCS Safety Health & Security Associates for all of our safety training including First Aid and CPR because of how they work with their clients and the quality of training they provide. We recommend them to everyone we know in need of their services and we will continue to recommend them.”
We would like to thank Robyn O’Connor of Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy for taking time out of her busy schedule for our interview, and for being one of the most intuitive and progressive facility, and for helping your clients on their roads to recovery. SCS Safety Health & Security Associates, along with Doug and Stacy Skinner appreciates you and your staff for everything you all do.
